Orkut updates ::: Feed for your scrapbook

From past few days, I am observing few updates in the social networking site orkut. Orkut being one of the most popular networking sites, is under constant development. Even after 4 years of service, it is still in its beta state. Here I am sharing few of the new options and updates regarding orkut.

7.Orkut Blocked:

 

 

Orkut once gave me the following page. I don’t know what the reason is and it is not the page which could be found in initial days - "NO NO DONUT BAD SERVER". Check out the snap and tell me if you know any details about that.

6.Sponsored listings:

Somewhere in orkut, I saw today sponsored listings. I don’t remember which page displays that and I forgot to take the snap. It may come into picture in coming days.

 

5.More privacy options:

 

 

 

Privacy options have been provided to maintain our privacy with everyone. Privacy options now have our updates, profile visitors, scrapbook control, google index control, access control for scrapbook, photos, videos, testimonials and feeds. With all these options we can decide our privacy in the orkut. This is more important as today orkut has grown into a place where hundreds of scams take their birth. Thanks to orkut.

4.Decreasing popularity of Orkut Büyükkökten:

 

 

Have you ever visited to the profile of the Orkut Büyükkökten, the creator of Orkut. If you regularly visit his profile, you might have noticed the decreasing popularity of him. I had last visited his profile some one and a half year back. At that time, he had more than 250 fans and the popular ratings of orkut - trusty, cool, sexy were filled so that 100% is not enough to measure his ratings. Now? fans=140, 80% trusty, cool and sexy. Why has that happened? Of course, all of us have lost the craze of Orkut, but still we use it. Initially, we used to rate every friend and also, we used to arrange them in groups. Now, might be his friends increased and they never rated him.

3.Feed for your Orkut scrapbook:

 

 

Ever thought of having orkut scraps directly delivered into your favorite reader application? Now the time has come for that too. Orkutfeeds developed by the famous Devil’s Workshop is providing that service. Just you need to go to the homepage of Orkutfeeds and provide your UID of orkut, no need to provide your login details to them. Even if you don’t want to go to that site, I provide you the most easy way to get your feed url. Its simply given below:

http://www.orkutfeeds.com/feed.php?uid=[your UID number here]

I hope you all know what UID number is, if you don’t, its just the number which is found at the ending of the url of your scrapbook/ profile…

Now, you can monitor your girlfriend’s scrapbook without visiting orkut regularly.

2.Upload multiple images into your album:

 

 

This feature is supported only by Internet Explorer as it uses ActiveX control. In the photos section, you will see a link called New! Upload multiple photos . When clicked on that leads to instruction page, where you can follow given instructions to install ActiveX control to upload multiple photos.

You can select upto 94 photos of upto max size of 5mb. Its very simple in usage.

1.Orkut flaw - Its time for spammers:

A recent article from Devil’s Workshop provided me an insight about this Orkut bug. All Google links scrapped on orkut do not ask for capcha verification. So the following html can be used to scrap all about this site without verification.

I tested with that code and it worked out. D.W. also provided few other codes, which do not seem to work right now. Spammers will definitely take advantage of this, and we may expect more spams from now till the bug is fixed. Also there is a chance for worms to multiply in number within this period.
