There are different variances of the error "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" and the one I am dealing with is the problem of Vishal which was my problem when I started using my broadband connection. I was using BSNL broadband connected over DSL on my Windows XP system. There are loads of solutions for this, none of them worked for me. Here I am sharing the tool which worked for me and may be the same would be of help to anyone with same problem.

Generic host process for win32 services

The problem with my computer was that whenever I connect my PC to internet (only broadband, this did not occur with dial up connection), after some time of say 15-20 minutes, and error would pop up stating that the Generic host services for win32 process encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience. If you were in middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. This had become a routine and after this, I needed to restart the computer to get connected to internet. Few said it is some problem with svchost. But note that it is not a virus.

Though I am not very much into technical aspects of this error, the solution to this was a small tool called Windows Worms Doors Cleaner. Download this 50kb application and fix your computer error. Happy browsing. If you find this solution to work, please share it with others who are in need.

How is this “Windows Worms Doors Cleaner” program suppose to work I downloaded it, but now I don’t know what to do next?

@ Mo

I thought it was not that to handle this tool. Anyway, once you open the tool, it will show different port statuses as shown in the figure. Some will be disabled and others will be enabled – you can notice which one is safe by looking at the tick symbols (right mark for correct and safe and cross mark for those which are not safe). Just click on the buttons given aside to turn it to safe mode that the Generic host error will be fixed :)

thanks for the answer

HI PAVAN
THIS TOOL WORKING NICE AND NOT WORKS IN LAN ENVIRONMENT IT DISABLES NETWORK SHARING PLS TELL ME THE SOLUTION ON LAN ENVIRONMENT

@ Raghu,

This is weird. Even I have tried this tool on my Windows xp desktop and LAN still worked fine. Did you try to re enable that in windows? May be your firewall software too is responsible for lan sharing.

Even if that does not work, you may refer to other solutions for the same problem: http://www.techpavan.com/2009/05/19/generic-host-process-for-win32-services-encountered-problem-error-solution/

@ Raghu,

If you want to contact the developer, you may use this mail id: guillaume.kaddouch [at] gmail [dot] com – it is the webmaster of the site[firewallleaktester.com] which developed the WWDC tool.
