Spice Telecom / Idea Free SMS Message Center Number

These days there are lot of free sms services online, but if you come to cell phones, many telecom operators still charge more for sms. Even, on few plans, text message charges are more than that for calls.
Usually there will be some message centers which provide free sms delivery service, but the general observation is that they simply die of overload. Such message centers exist only for few hours or at the most a day. But, this time, I have got a message center number for Spice Telecom, India (now Idea!) which is working fine since 3 days and hence I wanted to share here. I know it is not at all useful for many of my readers all around, but few people will find it very much useful. Now, group sms chatting is more fun and free of cost.
If you know all procedures, here is the number which you can use directly:
+919821900035 – Karnataka and Punjab – Feb 07.

I am blogging here as I tested the same for 3 days and found still alive and working fast. Now, you can cut your mobile bills little easily. Weird fact is that it is Bharti Airtel number if you try cell phone reverse lookup.
If you are not aware of changing the mobile phone sms center number, here is the procedure.
Goto Messaging > Options > Settings > Text message > Service centre, now you can edit / add new service center number.
Note 1: Don’t remove the old message center number as these special free message centers wont work for long time. If you can’t save more message center numbers, write the existing one down so that you can use later.
Note 2: Such message centers have not been tested for value added service sms / premium sms / short code sms.
Here are other message center numbers which worked in the past. Just for information and you can try them out if you are interested to. I am not sure if they work now or in future.
- +919844198441 – Usually the default one, it charges based on plan.

- +919844198446
The above discussed numbers are applicable for Karnataka and I am not sure if they work for Punjab.

UPDATE: This number has now stopped working and we will update when any other successful number is found out. For the time being, you can send free sms online.
